Creating Confident Caregivers

As the need for home care workers skyrockets, higher wages are critical.

Providing care and support is an emotionally and physically exhausting job and should be compensated accordingly. As the majority of aging Americans want to age in their own homes, the need for in-home caregivers is escalating.Previously, I talked about the need for the industry to give caregivers pay raise. Caregiver pay is grossly under what it should be, even compared to the refuse industry. Caregiving is not a glamorous job, but fulfilling for those who care deeply. The answer to the question, "Why do I want to be a caregiver?" is most definitely not because the wages are desireable. Most caregivers have a passion for the industry and the people they serve, which is why they stay in it.Despite the necessity and importance of caregivers as the population ages, they still tend to be paid at or below minimum wage. PBS produced an investigative report about how caregivers are vastly underpaid.[vc_row][vc_column]

The live-in support caregivers provide is no small task and is severely undervalued. At Commonwise Home Care, we firmly believe that great caregivers deserve higher wages. We are proud to offer members of our Care Team competitive compensation—creating confident caregivers.
