The Commonwise Difference
Commonwise offers a refreshing alternative to traditional home care providers.
We select thoughtfully
Our focus is on hiring Caregivers with the personal skills and emotional intelligence to enrich your loved one’s life. And, because we pay better, we attract better Caregivers.
We train extensively
In-home care is as much hospitality as it is healthcare. Every Caregiver completes our propriety training program which prepares them for the unique challenges of providing care in someone else’s home.
We support creatively
We don’t try to manage our Caregivers from behind a desk. Our Care Managers regularly deliver coaching and feedback in the home. This leaves Caregivers feeling supported and clients being heard.
We are local
Virginia is our home. We started in Charlottesville in 2013 with a dedication to raising the level of in-home senior care. Since then, we have helped hundreds of older adults age in their homes and have opened new offices including here in Richmond and Charleston, SC.
About Commonwise Richmond
Commonwise opened our Richmond office in 2017. We are located on Rolling Hills Drive, near the intersection of Three Chopt Road and Forest Avenue.
Meet some of the Richmond Team
Laura is a Certified Senior Advisor who specializes in listening to callers’ problems, providing them with options, and guiding them to the right solution. Her friendly, knowledgeable, and understanding nature makes her a perfect first contact at Commonwise.
Micelle Jepson, RN
Michelle is an RN Care Manager who works with every new client to assess their condition, then writes a thorough plan of care for Commonwise caregivers to follow. Throughout your relationship with Commonwise, she will work one on one with your caregivers to make sure you or your loved one is getting the best possible care.
We wouldn’t be able to hire top-notch caregivers without our ace recruiter, Clay. With her keen eye for talent, Clay only hires caregivers who show compassion, empathy, and a dedication to providing care for older and disabled adults.
Our service area
Commonwise Richmond provides care in the City of Richmond and these surrounding towns and counties: Henrico, Chesterfield, Powhatan, Goochland, New Kent, Hanover, Mechanicsville and Chester.

“From my first call seeking services until the Caregiver called me at 8 AM the morning my Mom passed, everyone with your company was first class. I threw a couple of last minute curve balls at Michelle when another company informed us they could not fulfil existing scheduled care taker hours. She was understanding, confident, and always came through with good news to fill the gaps (and ease the stress). Bottom line…I would refer your company to anybody.”
“My mom needed this round-the clock care for several months, and Commonwise Home Care of Richmond was truly a blessing for our family. Each and every caregiver was friendly, kind, compassionate, intelligent, and seemed to know just what my mom needed – some quiet time, to watch an up-lifting Hallmark movie, or engage in animated conversation.”
“I can’t thank you enough for your help in getting my uncle home and then in caring for him once he was there. I was able to bring my dad and mom to see him on Sunday, and it meant so much to be able to touch him and talk to him. You helped make a terrible situation substantially better – he deserved to be able to die at home surrounded by those who love him. Also, as advertised, you caretakers truly were top notch. Again, thank you. I’ll recommend you to anyone who’ll listen.”
