Frequently Asked Questions
How soon can a caregiver start?
We can typically begin providing care between 24 and 48 hours. One of our RN care managers can assess your elderly loved one and their home environment in 24 hours and then develop a person-centered care plan to serve your loved one’s unique needs immediately.
Who will be coming into my parent’s home?
We’re very selective about the caregivers we hire. We wouldn’t let anyone into your parent’s home that we wouldn’t want in ours. Commonwise caregivers undergo a proprietary vetting process, including a criminal background check, sexual misconduct search, driver and motor vehicle search, drug test, certification verification, etc.
How can I make sure a caregiver is doing their job?
Our care management tool, Family Room, empower clients and their families to track the care experience provided by Commonwise caregivers. Families can easily view scheduled care, caregiver assignments, care logs, shift tasks, and even pay electronically.
How often can a caregiver come to take care of my parent?
Hourly care: Companionship and personal care services are provided from a minimum of 4 hours up to 24 hours per day, depending on your loved one’s needs. Overnight care: If your parent requires home assistance at night or wants the safety and comfort of another person in their home, care can be organized in 10- to 12-hour increments. Full-time care: Our Care Team can provide 24-hour care for the elderly in their own home or yours. Full-time care is typically rotated in three 8-hour shifts or two 12-hour shifts.
Can you help me with long-term care?
Yes. Our clients usually require in-home health care on short notice and assume it will only be necessary for the short-term, but long-term care is why we exist. We accept most long-term care insurance plans; our care managers can also work with you to ensure you’re getting the full value out of your plan.
Do I have to sign a long-term contract?
No. Our care agreements cover 2-week increments with no penalty for cancellations within 48 hours.
